Your color palette, that is!

Depending on the software or app that you use, you may not be able to save your actual color palette somewhere as a backup. If that’s the case, here’s what I recommend:

Using a file with a light-colored grid on a bottom layer, choose a brush with full flow and full opacity settings and select a layer ABOVE the grid. Then, go through each of your colors, selecting them one by one, and draw a big splash of color using the grid boxes so that you have re-created your palette in this image file. When you are done, back up the file to somewhere super safe. (Obviously, you don’t have to have a grid. I just like them because I might be a neat-freak.)

If you ever need to re-create your color palette, you can open this file and select the layer with the colors. Then, use the color picker/eye-dropper in your software to select each of the colors and drag them to your new palette.

Extra tip: If you want to re-arrange your existing palette but don’t want to risk losing any colors, this is also a handy way to do that.
